To: All Brighton & Hove Green Spaces Volunteer Groups

At our launch event on 30th October we celebrated the successes of many Brighton & Hove Green Spaces volunteer groups who took part in the 2017 South & South East In Bloom (S&SEIB) awards. The feedback from participants on the award framework offered by the RHS ‘In Bloom’ service has been entirely positive. Brighton & Hove Green Spaces Forum would like to encourage all member groups to consider taking part in 2018

The RHS Britain In Bloom ‘It’s your Neighbourhood’ category is community orientated, non-competitive and free to enter. Groups are recognised and commended for their achievements as well as provided with feedback and guidance for the future.

The ‘It’s your Neighbourhood’ (IYN) category is easy to enter as follows:
Visit the regional ‘In Bloom’ service site at and click on the pink ‘Entry Form’ tab, go to the ‘Select a Competition’ option, click on ‘South & South East In Bloom – It’s Your Neighbourhood 2018’. Complete the details for your group and submit. If preferred we can send a paper entry form on request.

S&SEIB will acknowledge your entry and a date between 18th June and 13th July will be agreed for an assessor to attend. The visit lasts about an hour and takes the form of an informal discussion about the group and its activities. The assessors are there as advisors and not as judges – their visits always provide constructive advice.

This year B&H Green Spaces Forum will offer active support to all member groups who participate in IYN. This will include written guidance, on-line support and a workshop aimed at helping groups maximise the benefits they get from taking part.

We will also be holding a free celebration event in the Autumn, to which all BHGSF groups will be invited.

Please do get your application in quickly as the closing date is 28th February, and let us know if you are entering so that we can ensure you get the most from the support on offer.

Good luck and we look forward to hearing from you.
